Re: Budget Bus Passengers in 1971

It was interesting to see the August 1971 passenger list, many thanks for typing it out! Without first names it has been difficult to recognise everyone (if only we had been more formal "I say, please pass me that joint Mr X", then it might have been easier to identify everyone)!

Here are my best guesses, if anyone knows differently (and intends to sue me) then I will be pleased to make ammendments...

1    MISS G S   WILLIAMS - ?Gay, New Zealand girl 1  (Gay as in name, not inclination!) Calculated guess not sure which was Gay and which Liz
2    MISS  G MC INTOSH - ?Liz, New Zealand girl 2, Calculated guess not sure which was Gay and which Liz
3    MR M J COUPER  - *   Unable to place
4    MR C D  EDWARD - Chris (Bones), English junkie, Pretty certain
5    MISS M LOFTUS - Maureen, English junkie's surprisingly normal girlfriend, Pretty certain
6    MR R M MORRIS - ?Mike, New Zealand heavily tattooed junkie 1, Calculated guess
7    MR F C DIERCK - ?Fred, New Zealand heavily tattooed junkie 2, Calculated guess
8    MR COX - * ?  Unable to place
9    MR D T MINTER - Derek, (Me) English - 20 years old, Certain - 4 of us travelling together
10    MR T COUCH - Tony, English - 20 years old, Certain - 4 of us travelling together
11    MR I ORPWOOD Ian, English - 20 years old ,Certain - 4 of us travelling together
12    MR G O

Re: Budget Bus Passengers in 1971

A Bob Hughes worked for Sundowners in 1976 77, in their Earls Court office. I suspect it is the same Bob Hughes.

Re: Budget Bus Passengers in 1971

Hello,

I guess Bob Hughes is quite a common name and I am quite sure that this is not the same Bob Hughes who worked for Sundowners. This Bob was a TV cameraman by profession. The four of us, Graham, Tony, Ian and and I travelled on from Delhi to Calcuttea and by air to Thailand then by railway as far as Singapore with Bob and his wife Robyn and later met up with them in Sydney and kept in touch for a while.

Bob helped out with bus driving for a stretch in India, he had some experience driving large TV outside broadcast vehicles.
